Do you know how cool we really are?Posted June 27, 2012
If you don't, join Ed and Ross along with principals and winemakers from 54 other international and Canadian Cool Climate wineries for a Chardonnay filled weekend. From July 20th to the 22nd Niagara will be swirling, sniffing and tasting over 110 Chardonnay from Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, France, New Zealand and the United States.
With a variety of educational experiences and events happening all weekend long, you get to 'blend' your own event. Sit in on the Extreme Winemaking 101 seminar (includes lunch) at Brock University on Friday, then sip and dance the night away at the Official Kick-Off Event at Jackson Triggs featuring The Arkells.
Saturday mosey on down to Flat Rock Cellars on Saturday afternoon for our Freudian inspired
luncheon, Alter Egos: Different places, different faces. Join VINES Magazine Editor, Christopher Waters and six winemakers as we explore the many different 'personalities' of Chardonnay. Following a fun and interactive tasting, join us in our winemaking facility for an amazing five course lunch menu prepared by Chef Jeremy Taft of haute Caribou (PEC).
Saturday evening 'la creme de la creme' of Ontario's winemaking 'chefs' will be putting on a feast at the Chardonnay World Tour Tasting & 'Beyond the Barrel' Dinner. All 55 wineries (including principals and/or winemakers) will be on-hand to mingle and pour you some of their 'coolest' Chardonnays. Following the World Tour Tasting, seven of Ontario's most culinary adventurous winemakers (including our very own Ross Wise) alongside Wellington Court's Erik Peacock, will drum up a regional tastebud journey. Take on the challenge of pairing up some of your favourite Chardonnays from the weekend with amazing cross-country fare, including Ross' lobster mac and cheese.
