Dear Flat Rockers,

The term terroir is thrown around a lot when discussing a bottle of wine, but what does this mean?  At Flat Rock Cellars this term represents a vital and defining characteristic of our wines. We look to make and celebrate wines with a sense of place - you can taste the soil, the vineyard, and the climate in each bottle - Matt Kramer, of Wine Spectator, came up with the term Somewhereness to describe these attributes.  And so, on Tuesday May 10th, we celebrate Somewhereness with ten leading Ontario wineries.

Flat Rock Cellars is one of the original six wineries that began this celebration, and we have expanded since and will feature ten wineries for the 2011 celebration. Joining us are 13th Street Winery, Cave Springs Cellars, Charles Baker, Hidden Bench Vineyards & Winery, Malivoire Wine Company, Norman Hardie Winery & Vineyard, Southbrook Vineyards, Stratus Vineyards and Tawse Winery.

Join me at Somewhereness, I look forward to raising a glass with you.
