Beat the Winter Blues!Back to Archive
A Word from Ed
Spring is almost upon us and the team here at Flat Rock Cellars is planning some fantastic opportunities. Marlize, and her team, are getting ready to bottle the first of the 2008 vintage later this month. We will be pre-releasing some of the wines that sell out each year so stay tuned. The retail team never stops trying to come up with great offers for you. This coming month is no exception. During the March Break, (March 14th-22nd) we will have a special vertical tasting of our Pinot Noir from the '03, '04 and '05 vintages. The tasting itself will be special, but I have also agreed to release (in very limited quantities) these wines from our library to be sold. They will only be available during March Break and while quantities last.
As you begin to shed the winter blues, plan to make the trek to Flat Rock Cellars. It's a great time to visit the winery.
Doing our Part
At Flat Rock Cellars we are aware of our social responsibility to give back to the community and have initiated a campaign that involves donating a portion of our retail wine tasting fees to a charity chosen every two months by a staff member at Flat Rock Cellars.
March and April's charity is the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, in memory of one of our staff's family members. The Heart and Stroke Foundation is a volunteer-based health charity, which leads in eliminating heart disease and stroke and reducing their impact through the advancement of research and the promotion of healthy living.
For more information on the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or how you can help, please contact www.heartandstroke.on.ca or call (905) 938-8800.
Helping the Environment
Part of making great wine is preserving the environment our vines grow in. To ensure quality vintages for years to come, we have made sustainable viticulture practices and environmentally responsible technologies part of daily life here at Flat Rock Cellars. From our low impact vineyard management and gravity flow winemaking to our geo-thermal systems for all heating and cooling, our winery is designed to protect the delicate eco-systems contained within our property.
