Join us for the "Not Just Icewine" Festival this WeekendPosted January 10, 2011
It’s now a tradition…the Twenty Valley Winter WineFest is ‘the reason’ to venture out on a chilly January weekend again this year. Choose from over 90 wines from 33 area wineries, with Icewine again sharing centre stage with some of Ontario’s best sparkling and premium VQA wines. With 70 award-winning and reserve wines, this is a list not offered at any other wine festival.
11 local culinary stars will be serving up perfectly paired dishes, including wild game stew from the Restaurant at Vineland Estates, freshly shucked oysters from The Good Earth, raclette from the Upper Canada Cheese Company, Moroccan winter squash stew from Zooma Zooma, fried five-spice pork-belly from el Gastromundo Vagabundo, icewine-roasted swine from Inn on the Twenty, and the popular hand-cut frites from About Thyme Bistro. Toute Sweet and Willow Creek will add a sweet element to the afternoon, and the Big Green Egg team will be roasting chestnuts again this year.
New this year, a Centre Stage, presented by the Jordan Village Merchants, will offer a full-day of live entertainment. The event will kick off with the ‘roll out the barrels’ winemakers challenge daily at 12:00pm, and will include live cooking demos by the chefs at The Good Earth and the Big Green Egg, a fashion showfeaturing local winemakers, and the jazzy tunes of Tianna H & Jazz with a Twist.
The festival runs from 11:00am – 5:00pm Saturday January 15 and Sunday January 16. Admission is free, and tokens are $2.50 each, with wine samples offered at 2 tokens, and food samples starting at 1 token. We hope to toast 2011 with you in Jordan Village!
