In the Winemaker's Boots

Have you ever dreamed of being a winemaker? To care for the vines, understand the science behind the winery, and experience first hand the magic of life in a vineyard?

If so, then you should join us at Flat Rock for a walk “in the winemaker’s boots”. Whether you have only a few hours, or have the time to really dig deep, our Winemaker Marlize Beyers and President Ed Madronich will walk you through what they do, how it’s done and why they do it.

Weekend Workshops
: 2 hour sessions, a great way to sample what Flat Rock Cellars is all about!

In the Winemaker’s Boots: 4 full day seminars, each one is designed to spotlight the seasonal activities taking place in both the winery and the vineyard at a critical time of the growing year.

At the Winemaker's Table: 4 afternoon lunches set over a large harvest table with President, Ed Madronich and Winemaker, Marlize Beyers.

Call the winery at 905-562-8994 or email info@flatrockcellars.com for more information or to book your space.

In the Winemaker’s Boots Full Day Sessions

Prepare yourself for 4 uniquely different, very hands-on, full-day sessions. Four key components – vineyard activities, winery work, lab analysis, and tasting/blending sessions – are featured in each session.

We’ll serve up a fantastic lunch each day and you’ll walk away with a cool Flat Rock t-shirt in one hand and a snazzy certificate in the other. Most importantly, you’ll have had a hardworking, informative and hopefully inspiring day in the winemaker’s boots.

We’ll provide the all the tools you need, you just bring the elbow grease, your sense of adventure and, as always, a sense of humour.

Book one or all four for an experience you won’t forget. You will never look at a bottle of wine the same way again.

Session 1:  March 21, 2010
Session 2:  June 12, 2010
Session 3:  August 15, 2010
Session 4:  October 3, 2010

Time:  9 am - 5 pm

Price:  $200 each
Price includes GST on the $10.00 tasting portion of the session.

*NEW* At the Winemaker's Table

This year, we discovered - and it came as a shock to us - that not everybody wants to get down and dirty in the vineyard!  However, there does appear to be a slew of you that would happily put your boots under our table, roll up your sleeves and talk turkey over a great meal with Ed and Marlize.

Grill Ed about his passion for building Niagara's wine industry or if you prefer...about his earlier heady basketball days.  Chew the fat with Winemaker Marlize Beyers about cold climate winemaking or life growing up in South Africa.  It's your chance to get to know the faces behind the wines you'll enjoy, while tucking into an outstanding 3-course lunch prepared by one of our many super-talented, local chefs.

So, if you're more comfortable with cutlery than you are with secateurs, this is the Flat Rock event for you - because the only thing that's going to get dirty here, is your napkin.

*to keep things interactive, numbers will be kept to 12-14 guests.

Schedule:

February 14, 2010: Chef Mark Hand, Hospitality on Hand

May 9, 2010: The Chefs of The Good Earth

August 22, 2010: The Chefs of The Good Earth

November 14, 2010: Chef Erik Peacock, Wellington Court

Time: 12:30pm
Price: $75.00 per person (plus GST)
