An Earful from Ed
Ed Madronich, Proprietor
What should the FRC Wine Club look like? It is a question that has been stirring in the cellars of the winery for some time now. How can we give our favourite customers "back stage" access to our wines yet maintain our fun approach? Well, I think we have finally come up with the right solution. Our wines will take center stage, but it will be you, our customers, who will get to hang out with them at home or wherever. It was important to us that we gave you the options that you are looking for when joining a wine club, and I think we have accomplished that. For those that want exclusive access to Reserve wines, back vintages and special award winners then the Hall of Fame is for you. However, if you are a Twisted lover and simply want to have a couple bottles of that great wine shipped to you on a quarterly basis so you are never out of stock, then being a Groupie will suit your needs. And if you are looking to experience Flat Rock Cellars on a regular basis, you are a Rockstar in our eyes. If this sounds a bit eccentric, we explain it all below. Suffice it to say, if there is one wine club that rocks, it must be from Flat Rock.
Club on the Rock
Jillian Nero, Marketing and Sales Manager
Lately, many of our loyal customers have been asking to join a Flat Rock wine club. Well, it's finally here...and man, you are all in for some fun. I checked out some other clubs in the area while creating our own and all I can say is - this club ROCKS! We've designed three different programs suited to your needs, each jam packed with great extras. The first shipment for all programs will leave the winery at the beginning of May so be sure to sign up today to be included. The only question is - are you a Rockstar, Groupie or a Hall of Famer. Keep reading and you'll see what I mean:
Flat Rockstar: This is a great way to ensure you've always got a little Flat Rock on hand. Flat Rockstars receive quarterly shipments of 2 different estate wines - specially selected for you - in your choice of a 2 or 4 bottle shipment. If you aren't getting enough in your Flat Rock fix, just ask us to increase your quarterly shipment amount. Your delivery will also include wine tasting notes and a letter from Flat Rock lead vocalist, Ed Madronich (autographed no less).
Flat Rock Groupie: If you are a fan of a particular Flat Rock wine, riff on this! Here you choose the current vintage wine and we'll ship it to you. Choose from a 2 or 4 bottle shipment and receive it automatically each quarter - without even lifting a finger. Isn't that music to your ears?
Flat Rock Hall of Famer: Membership to the Hall of Fame is limited and expected to fill quickly. Here, Ed will personally select 2 different wines from his cellar of premium wines and library stock. Your choice of a 2 or 4 bottle shipment will be delivered quarterly to your home of office. A letter outlining his selections will be included. Plus, you'll receive a private tour and barrel room tasting for 10, led by Flat Rockstar, Ed Madronich.
All memberships also include some great extras, including:
- A complimentary pocket-sized wine journal when you sign up.
- Special backstage passes to the Flat Rocker tasting area at our annual Open House events.
- Special Pre-Release pricing on select new vintage wines.
- Complimentary tours and special tastings at the winery.
- Plus many more.

A Word from the Wise
Ross Wise, Winemaker
I am very excited to be the new Winemaker at Flat Rock Cellars! I have always enjoyed being apart of the team, and can't wait to craft more great wines from the amazing vineyards we have up here on the Twenty Mile Bench. And with spring looking like it is going to stick around for a while, it is an exciting time for us in the vineyard and winery. The vines are pruned, and like me, they are waiting for the weather to warm up a little. We will likely see the first of the new season's growth within a month.
In the cellar, we are busy preparing the first of our 2009 wines for their date with the bottling machine in two weeks time. After a cool and wet start to the 2009 summer, the weather sure turned it on for us in the six weeks leading up to harvest, and we are very excited about the bright, vibrant and intensely flavoured wines that we have in the cellar at the moment. Our 2009 Rieslings, Pinot Noir Rose and Twisted are no exceptions. I look forward to sharing a glass of them with you at the spring open house!
Spring is here...and shipping is free!
Tiffany Richardson, Retail Supervisor
The snow has melted and the days are now longer. What better way to celebrate the official start of spring than with complimentary shipping. We are just about to bottle our 2009 vintage wines, so that means most of our 2007s and 2008s are going to soon be out of stock...if they aren't already. For the next week (until April 9th), we're offering complimentary shipping anywhere in Ontario on case orders (12 bottles). You can mix and match any of your favourite FRC wines to make up a 12 bottle case - just let us know what you like and we'll put it together for you.
Wine shipments can be sent directly to your home or business. If you are ordering online, please just quote the promo code SPRING in the notes section of the order form, and we'll take care of the rest.
Click here to place your order on-line now. You must be 19 years of age to order.
F'ing Winery Tour
Jillian Nero, Marketing and Sales Manager
The fantastic F'ing wineries of the Twenty Valley (namely Flat Rock Cellars, Featherstone Estate Winery and Fielding Estate Winery) have once again banned together for a couple weekends of some f'ing fun!
If you haven't yet experienced the F'ing Winery Tour, you're in for a treat. For only $10 per person, you get to enjoy two wine tastings at each winery paired up with a fabulous food pairing. This year's focus - Flatbread, of course. Each winery has created a yummy pairing for their wines including Flat Rock's pairing of field mushroom and asiago topped flatbread to compliment our Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Dates: April 10-11th & 17-18th, 2010
Times: 11am-4pm daily
Passports are on sale now at each of the participating wineries. To purchase or reserve yours, please call the winery at (905) 562-8994.
